The Skull Trio

I like doors that open to reveal scary things. I had built two 7' tall columns, one for each side of the garage opening. One side hides an oversized animated skull that swings out from behind on a motor driven arm. I wanted something on the other side too. I had 3 rubber skulls that I'd found at a yard sale for $2 each. They had a voice recording box inside that was activated by a motion detecter. The scream they made was just annoying so out they came!

I started by cutting an opening in the front that would be the door. After paint it can barely be seen in dim lighting.

It would open to reveal the singing Skull Trio!

After removing the sound box a nice flat area was left to which a piece of thin ply was glued in using RTV adheasive. A perfect place to mount a servo and a way to mount the skull to a bracket.

Door servo mounted to back. A larger servo arm was made to accomodate the longer throw necessary. This is a large servo made for really big model airplanes. (1/4 scale)

All 3 skull servos are wired together so only one control channel is required.
